Mikel Lujan

Dr. Mikel Lujan holds a prestigious Royal Society University Research Fellowship since 2009 in the APT group investigating low-power many-core systems. Previously he researched runtime execution environments for petascale systems (large-scale computers with the order of one million hardware-supported threads) at Sun Microsystems Research Laboratories (CA, USA). In this industrial setting, he took part in knowledge transfer from research into business units and generated three US patents. Author of more than 60 refereed papers, he leads the UK-funded DOME project investigating fault-tolerant many-core systems, and the Manchester teams in the FP7 IP TERAFLUX (many-core architectures and high productivity programming models) and FP7 STREP AXLE (advanced analytics for extremely large medical databases) projects.
